valentinoI found myself at a loss for words to describe the fashion world of Valentino. Although he retired from the day to day operations of the Valentino brand, the jaw dropping designs continue to walk the runway. I will let the images of the chevron design that caught my eye in the latest Elle and the Spring/Summer 2015 runway show do the talking.  (Love the lucite Minaudiere…be sure to scroll down the home page to see the ‘camubutterfly’)

Those of you lucky enough to attend Clay Carnival in Las Vegas this week will be right on trend with Julie Eakes’ class.

fringe-4The new Marie Claire issue arrived yesterday and I noticed links to a new app…Netpage!!! AMAZING This is a bloggers dream app. Find an image in Marie Claire…open Netpage…clip…and send it wherever. I quickly clipped 5 pages and sent them to my email address…and VOILA…INSTANT POST PHOTO. Well…not quite instant. I tweaked some of the photos and converted them from pdf to jpg…but certainly much faster than a trail of dead ends in search of a photo to share. BTW…fringe is very in…more on that later.

If you live in Columbus, Ohio or Omaha, Nebraska red is always in style. For the rest of the country it has been 30 years since we have seen red as a trend setting color. In the last few weeks designers have been asking for ‘pure’ red. They want that pop of color that adds energy to a design. The Wall Street Journal calls red The Color of Confidence. Valentino has been using red as his signature color for years. It was easy to find a beautiful design from one of his collections to show the perfect red. I’m watching two of my grandchildren for 6 days. The 9 year old keeps saying “I love Spring”. Temperatures above 60 degrees are making all of us smile. The Valentino handbag collection for Spring 2010 in the Online Store is full of flower shapes to soothe our spring fever. The site is slow to load but worth the time. I found quite a few design elements worth a second look and exploration for future projects.
