The May issue of Elle Decor featured a striking photo of Hex Target tiles from Popham Design. The is a terrific interactive site for cane color combinations and design placement.

Ann Sacks describes her design focus as “Let’s be daring. Let’s be different. Let’s find things that haven’t been seen anywhere.” Just hover over the names listed in the ceramic art tile category to see a sample.
The site is full of beautiful colors and
patterns. I found the green tile wall in the mosaic section. Don’t miss the glass section either!!!
Have a wonderful Easter everyone. Our whole family is under one roof this weekend. The five grandchildren range in age from nine to five. It is ‘organized’ chaos.

Graphics International is a designer, manufacturer and distributor of several lines of framed wall décor, mirrors and accessories to the hospitality industry, mass merchants, furniture stores, interior design firms and catalog companies on a nationwide as well as international basis. (I think their description covers it)
I love the muted color and simple elements that make up this dramatic grouping…great cane compositions.

We are getting close to Valentine’s Day so we are surrounded by hearts. This heart tile is from the studio tiles link on the Texture Home Decor home page. Tiles are a terrific surface for experimentation. I have been working on a series for my entry wall…13 down and 11 to go.

It is only January and I’m already thinking of Spring…it must be the 8 days below freezing temperature in Ohio. These bright flowers are from Peggy Kass Glass. Stroll through the FUZiON section for some interesting patterns and color combinations.

I have had an idea floating around in my head…mix sand into clay for the texture…then make pleats. What would happen…
Well, don’t bother with the sand…what a mess and the sand is completely lost after it is baked…but the pleats…we may have something there.
I wish I had photographed the tile when it first came out of the oven…BORING!!! Actually, beyond boring. Then I brushed a little Renaissance Gold acrylic paint on the edges…WOW!!! Even that small amount of paint added depth and dimension.
A little of this…A little of that…

A pinch of this and a pinch of that…NOW IF I CAN JUST REMEMBER HOW I DID IT?????????????????
I am participating in a gallery show with the Columbus, OH Polymer Clay Guild. The show will feature non-jewelry items. The timing is perfect. After a two year hiatus from the 8″ tiles I am ready to move from jewelry back to tiles.
As usual, there is an idea dancing around inside my head…but the materials and my fingers aren’t cooperating…until yesterday. I AM ALMOST THERE. Not sure I like the shine…but the mixture is just what I wanted.
