I missed it…the Missoni sale at Target…OH WELL!!! Since I cannot have Missoni, the new Schumacher collection from Martyn Lawrence Bullard will definitely fill my craving for color and chevrons. Martyn is one of the featured designers on Million Dollar Decorators and Elle’s top 25 designers on the world. The featured design would make an ‘interesting’ cane.

Still on duty with the boys. After spending two days at a swim meet, I am thankful my children chose other sports…30 seconds watching my grandson followed by 30 minutes waiting for the next event.

To shake up the January doldrums here is a pop of color. As I mentioned last week, the new Trina Turk collection from Schumacher was due any day. As we worked our way through the samples, the possibility of warm summer days seemed a little closer. Sorry the photo is so small. The link will lead you to better images

Do you ever look at a fabric and wonder where the design originated? In the interior design world the fabric designers scour the world looking for inspiration. The Schumacher blog has a post describing this process and a photo of the original inspiration…a fragment of fabric from China. Typically, the originating design is reproduced in its original colors as well as several new colorways.

The feature item is from an art & accessory resource-Raschella. The site offers a wide selection of styles from traditional to contemporary. Don’t let the login box stop you from browsing. I found a great deal of inspiration in the Product & Services tab.
I love the colors and textures in the photo at left. A similar combination would make a great pin.

The High Point Furniture Market is in full swing this week. I feel like a fish out of water…I’m in Columbus, OH. My husband is doing the honors this market and I’m holding down the fort at the office. My vicarious trip to the market it through the pre-market materials.
Aviva Stanoff Design’s ad caught my eye. The luscious fabrics, simple designs & beautiful colors made me search for more on the web. To my delight her studio/production facility is in the United States…Brooklyn, NY.

A recent ad from Framburg Lighting featured three lights with a bit of bling. The lamp on the left is accented by Swarovski crystals. The lamps in the center and right are accented by ‘lace’ glass to create the sparkle. Lace glass is a form of fused glass.

While working with a customer in the showroom today, I discovered this amazing fabric from F Schumacher. It works with our theme of Ottoman Rules from last week. The fabric is called Nurata Embroidery in Coral. The following is a description of the design’s “roots”.
“Adapted from an antique piece of a traditional Central Asian embroidery design, this print features a growing vine of pomegranates and flowers. Its curving shape and set repeat is very typical of and likely derived from early Ottoman Empire brocades and velvet designs. Screen printing gives the pattern bold color and shading, and hand guided embroidery adds dimension, texture and details.”

Several months ago a post featured Suzani embroidery. Jayson Home and Garden has several Suzani boxes in the Accessory-Tabletop section of the website.
This is a robust website…full of great design inspiration.
