One of the hottest trends in our showroom is embroidery…more and more embroidery. Whether trends start with fashion or interiors is a little like the chicken or the egg conundrum. Today’s Wall Street Journal features an article on the business of fashion. “Designers festoon fashion week looks with embroidery and beading; prices may rise as pared-down minimalism fades.”

I am saving my pennies, nickels, dimes & quarters. I will need all of them to purchase the new book on Emilio Pucci’s designs…$126 at Amazon. “Limited and numbered edition of 10.000 copies; each copy is bound with an original Pucci fabric, offering a choice of dozens of different covers.”

Pucci is know for bold colorful designs. His bio on Wikipedia is equally colorful.

The Elle Trend Report entitled Salt and Pepper was a full page of design inspiration. Several days ago a post featured Ikat pattern fabric. The dress featured today is from Oscar de la Renta. What a terrific cane pattern!!!

One of my favorite designs on the page is the ‘zig-zag’ purse from Emilio Pucci. Love the accent design element in a larger scale.

I couldn’t resist adding a little ‘bling’ to the page. The earrings are from Jacob & Co. This is an earring design that I have been pondering this winter…sans diamonds of course.

pucciRecently, a designer working in our showroom expressed dismay concerning a room she had just completed…it didn’t have pop. Although the customer was happy with the room the designer was not. Emilio Pucci’s designs have always had pop. It is amazing how timeless his work is. I look at the fabric patterns from the 60’s and they are still fresh and fun today.
