Angela-OKelly2Irish artist, Angela O’Kelly, combines nontraditional jewelry materials…paper & fabric…with precious metals to create bold, layered pieces. “I’m attracted to clashing colours in nature” she says. Texture is really important in her work. Boglands and the seaside rock formations inspire lightweight materials that don’t weigh the wearer down. “My designs are not for the everyday”, she explains. “More occasion wear than day wear, each design is a decorative object in its own right that you can admire as an art object when you’re not wearing it.”

nel lissenNel Linssen makes an amazing array of jewelry from paper. “Nel Linssen is an old-timer when it comes to making jewellery as well as objects from paper. For some thirty years she is constantly exploring how a different form or structure can arise out of a new way of constructing, which makes a piece even more appealing when worn and on the go. Years of interplay between head and hand, thinking and doing, has led to perfection and this makes her work extremely sensitive and humane.”

Her website is a little difficult to navigate…but her Pinterest page tells the visual story of her work and many of her designs could be translated in Polymer.

kelly neddermanKelly Nedderman’s training as a textile designer is apparent in her work. “Every time I sit down at my bench, I strive to combine my passion for metal with my passion for pattern, repetition and textures. Many of my jewelry pieces contain my own hand made paper that I have screen-printed and manipulated. They are then set under vintage eyeglass, microscope or camera lenses, which serve to protect, enhance, distort and magnify them. In this instance, the surface is contained and protected. Additional pieces have focused on bringing the surfaces to the outside, thereby creating a unique tactile experience for the wearer. The contrast between surfaces is what I find most appealing.

Kelly’s website is a work in process, but you will find more of her work here and here.
