kiff-slemmonsWhile searching for information on another artist, I stumbled across Kiff Slemmons. “I like countering assumptions,” Ms. Slemmons said in an interview at her studio in Chicago. “People assume paper is fragile. In fact, it’s strong. People assume jewelry is made of metal and precious material; paper is not that. But there is value that this paper is made by hand and that it provides a livelihood for people.”

While she doesn’t have a web site, there is a fascinating article from the New York Times that chronicles her background and inspiration. Her name will link you to Google Images of her work.

A dead end here & a dead end there…finally…a photo and a link… an Inspire We Trust blog post on paper jewelry. “What do you think of paper? Several times we discussed about paper on this blog my entirely personal motivation is that I love this material. I can’t help but be fascinated by the numerous creations that designers and artists, or supporters of such, work continuously with the same material. Seems like an infinite world of inspiration at reduced cost and with material readily available, not by chance that fascinates more people that buy and wear products created with paper. Let’s see who is.”
