Melissa Schmidt has been working in glass for over 16 years. It has only been in the last two that she has been making bubbles of glass with a variety of objects encased in the vesicle. Photographs have proven to be the most difficult…and the most intriguing. In the last year she has started to add gold leaf, rough or knobbed textures and colorful patterns to the surface.
