My family has been visiting the Charleston, SC barrier islands for 30 years. Charleston is captivating. There are streets in Charleston that predate the civil war. Walk another block or two and you are on a street predating the revolutionary war. Tradition and preservation is preeminent here.
In March a new book entitled Gullah Cuisine will be released. I was drawn to the ad by the colorful cover by Jonathan Green. Thankfully, there is a strong movement to preserve all aspects of the Gullah culture in the Low Country.
