louis-vuitton-escale-worldtime-watch-1Louis Vuitton’s name is synonymous with elegance & timeless design. Now, the design is time…or in this case the Escale Worldtime “featuring a dial that displays 24 cities and countries around the world and hand painted with 38 differing colours. The new complication has been designed to rid the face of extra hands and replace them with three separately rotating dials. With such workmanship (it’s takes a whole week to paint one face alone) it’s no wonder that only 20 will be made this year (and that each will set you back $67,000)”.

While this watch is not in my price range, the  handpainted squares on the face are great inspiration for a series of canes.

It appears the Spring/Summer 2013 is going to be one 60’s retro style after another. The crisp checkerboard pattern from Louis Vuitton follows in the footsteps of the ‘posies’ from Prada. BTW…the video is a visual feast.

Yayoi Kusama’s  obsession with polka dots led her to paint them on everything from trees to naked bodies. Marc Jacobs, a long time fan of her work,  has designed a collection of clothes, leather goods, and jewelry bearing her trademark   psychedelic  patterns for Louis Vuitton.   It was difficult to select just one photo of her work…so I am including links to Google Images and to Poul Webb’s art blog…enjoy!!!

I’ve saved the best for last in our slash of color trilogy. The color combination in the jumpsuit from Louis Vuitton is one that I must try. The colors in Elle magazine are definitely purple and  red.  The colors here are a little on the orange side. Either way…it is a winner!!!

My Irish grandmothers would be very upset if  I did not salute green today. So here is to all of my wonderful Irish ancestors…ERIN GO BRAGH!!!

In the January Elle the featured dress by Louis Vuitton is fuchsia and bright orange. As you can see, the computer dulled the orange and softened the contrast between the colors. This is one color combination that I am going to file away in my notebook…the bright version.

When in doubt make it in black & white. What a great bracelet design from Louis Vuitton…white on one side and black on the other. I think this may fall into we can do this territory. Add some gold beads to separate the colors and few Swarovski crystals on the black and you’ve got it.

This Louis Vuitton purse pattern is the most ‘pirated’ pattern in the world. It was designed by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. If you do a search of Louis Vuitton and Murakami you will find their collaboration has extended to a wide variety of products including…RUGS…what fun!!!

Winter officially begins this week, but we can dream of summer with this rope and resin bangle from Louis Vuitton. I’ve noticed a great deal of interest in LV jewelry in the last few magazines. I’m not sure if this is due to a PR campaign or the new designer, Laurenz Baumer. As the kids would say…WHATEVER!!!

Love the simplicity of the design elements. My brain is whirling with possibilities.

louis vuittonIt took a little time to pull this simple design from my memory…kindergarten is a very long time ago. Louis Vuitton’s latest collection features the paper chain construction in a series of necklaces. It is refreshing to see a high end designer take a child’s garland and make it a fashion statement. Take a little time to watch the Fall-Winter 2009/10 women’s show for a ‘live’ view of the necklaces.

louisvuittonI discovered this Louis Vuitton purse in the August InStyle. The design on this bag is reminiscent of the Turkish theme of past weeks…swirls of color. But, the ‘strap’ stopped me in my tracks…Is that a bicycle chain? Not quite, unless you consider pearls with gold connectors a bicycle chain.

Now if this is a must have for you…the estimated price is only $12,900. Can you imagine what the price would have been if we weren’t in a recession?
