I spent the last week in coastal South Carolina and I am certain that a Palmeto Bug was the inspiration for this cuff from Dana Lorenz. “Designer Dana Lorenz created FENTON in 2006. After obtaining degrees as a painter from the University of Iowa and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Dana entered the fashion industry, working for Gucci and Donna Karan. Jewelry design started as a personal endeavor, but her pieces quickly grew a cult following and a collaboration with menswear designer, Alexandre Plokhov of Cloak for runway.”

Malodora…aka Dee Wiler has been part of ‘ring a day’ and ‘ring a week’ groups for several years. When I saw the ad for Issey Miyake’s new perfune…Florale…I thought of Dee and what a great ring that would make. I love the contradiction of the woodsy curl band with the elegant floral accent.

The whole family arrived last night. There are eleven of us under one roof. I am praying for sunshine for the next 5 days!!! The five grandchildren are already in two camps…boys against girls…the breakables have been stashed away for safety. I may be finding nerf darts for the next six months…similar to an Easter Egg Hunt!!!

The perfect post for October…Stephen Webster’s jewelry designs have a dark edge to them with a little ‘whimsy’ thrown in. His work reminds me of Wendy Wallin Malinow and Dee Wilder.  Some of their designs have the same ‘tasteful’ macabre bent.

fenton2The feature bracelet is from Fenton. The Fenton site is full of interesting shapes and design combinations. While looking for the charm bracelet I came across several other noteworthy sites…Fashionphile and Charm and Chain.

Last summer I participated in a charm swap. I have the worst luck with swaps…but when 14 artists are involved there is ‘safety’ in numbers.  Dee Wilder demonstrated the bracelet assembly and I am now the proud owner of a fabulous charm bracelet.

(Please forgive me…I couldn’t resist the pun in the title.)
