One of the most beautiful design elements in the world is always at our fingertips…literally!!! Cartier has taken advantage of the beauty of fingerprints by featuring them as the background of their advertising campaigns. I love the new collection…Trinity. The background is fingerprints in gold, silver and rose. The Trinity collection echos these colors in white, yellow and rose gold with a with rows of diamonds.

Fingerprints have forever been the bane of artists and polymer artists are no exception. For several years I’ve looked at fingerprints on my work as the hand of the artist that sets the item apart from mass or machine manufactured pieces.

Wait until you see the home page for Cartier!!!  Just click on your country.  The ‘kitty’ is also featured in a two page ad in Elle…chewing on a beautiful red and gold jewelry box. As I ‘toured’ the Cartier site the term ‘dripping with diamonds’ came to mind. My original intent was to talk about the trend of animal prints. That topic pales when you view the craftsmanship and the stones that appear on page after page. Have fun window shopping this last day of the year.
