Birgit Kupke-Peyla’s friendship with a young goldsmith started her on the path to a career. In 1990 she moved from Germany to California and set up shop as a studio artist, certified goldsmith and award winning designer. “The style she developed, a repetition of bars soldered onto mixed metals with contrasting stripes—sterling overlaid on gold and gold on sterling—layer upon layer of pattern and geometric form, imprinted with contrasting patterns, makes her jewelry distinctive.”
