OH MY!!! Sheila Hick’s Roulade Amazone makes me want to rush to the nearest used book store, find a book with colorful images, and start ripping out pages. Of course, it is never that simple. The latest issue of American Craft showcases Sheila and her body of work. She is emphatic that she is not a weaver…she is an artist who works with fiber, line and color. Happy Birthday to the USA!!! Our July 4th weekend has been filled with all-star games (2 grandsons made all-star teams), fireworks, cookouts, and a parade. We need to go back to work on Tuesday to rest!!! We hope your weekend has been just as eventful and happy…or quiet and restful if that was your plan.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I spent a week at Penland studying color in a variety of materials. The studio assistant for the class was Una Barrett. Una wore a magnificent pendant during the week…one of here signature designs. Later in the week the students discovered that she was featured in the April/May American Craft as an artist to watch. Una is in the process of adding new items to her etsy shop. It will be fun to follow her career.
