While searching for information on another artist, I stumbled across Kiff Slemmons. “I like countering assumptions,” Ms. Slemmons said in an interview at her studio in Chicago. “People assume paper is fragile. In fact, it’s strong. People assume jewelry is made of metal and precious material; paper is not that. But there is value that this paper is made by hand and that it provides a livelihood for people.”
While she doesn’t have a web site, there is a fascinating article from the New York Times that chronicles her background and inspiration. Her name will link you to Google Images of her work.
very true! That actually hindered me from buying paper jewelry in the past! But constructed correctly paper jewelry is durable AND fantastic! 🙂
