Multiple apologies for the title…again, I could not resist. The Wall Street Journal had a terrific article last week about the 2011 Hue and how it was chosen. When I first started working in the design industry, I didn’t have a clue about how the colors were chosen for fashion and the objects we purchase each year. WELL…we can thank Pantone for that color we love or hate from year to year.
They are calling the 2011 hue…Honeysuckle. HMMM!!! The honeysuckle plants that grew in my yard in Kansas City, MO were definitely not this beautiful soft orangey-pink. I remember a white flower with a soft yellow center…and a YUMMY scent!!! I LOVE Pantone’s description of Honeysuckle…Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it.
