I was not familiar with the ancient textile pattern, Ikat, until I started working with polymer. (We will not discuss my first attempt at an Ikat cane.)

In the last few years Ikat has become a strong motif for interior design and the spring and summer 2010 runway fashions from Gucci have moved it to clothing.

The May Elle Decor has a colorful trend alert entitled…IKAT…how original!!! The slideshow features fourteen beautiful Ikat designs and links.  The multicolor Ikat designs are striking, but I think I prefer the white and bright combination best.
